The Arteoin Gallery Biography
Interested in graphic design since my schooldays, I trained initially as a graphic artist, and worked on stage sets, interior design at college and the odd engraving, privately producing pieces which, though painted, showed a strong graphics bias.
Discovering the works of such luminaries of printing as Durer, Dean and Escher, I was finally tipped over by a visit to the 2008 exhibition Picasso on Paper, after which I began attending the Printmakers' Workshop, where I have been developing my multi-media techniques ever since.
My originals begin as 'playing with photographs', and may include computer graphics, painting, any and every way of getting my ideas onto paper and sometimes canvas. This results in an eclectic, highly personal style which has both immediate eye-appeal and longer lasting depth of meaning.
I still regularly paint and draw, but printing from my own graphic originals is my main focus, while developing my style and technique is my main drive.
I have exhibited successfully several times, most recently under the auspices of the Printmakers' Gallery, at Coburg House in Edinburgh, and at Vermilion Studios in Edinburgh's South Side. I live and work in Edinburgh, and currently on a sabbatical from 'the day job' in order to have time and energy to develop my work and ideas.
